Product Information
From fine chemicals and electronics, to power plants and the oil patch Selex delivers. Density gradients in the unique Selex media create superior depth filter performance. The engineered media matrix provides very high particle retention efficiency and long life - a unique combination in filtration technology. - Particles are trapped throughout the entire depth of the filter media, so high flow rates are maintained with low pressure drop.
- Fiber construction at the surface of the filter is specifically designed to increase filter life by preventing surface blinding.
- Graded density construction is designed to give longer service life compared to competitive cartridge filters with uniform media.
- Extremely fine continuous filaments create complex tortuous paths, which trap particles throughout the depth of the media.
- Fine control of fiber size and density gradients results in superior performance in classifying applications.
Bonded core structure means superior integrity. The high structural strength of the Selex filter from one end to the other ensures filter integrity throughout its long lifetime. - Larger, stronger fibers are interwoven and thermally fused together at the core. They will not deform under pressure or surges, and will not unload particles into the filtrate--even under demanding operating conditions.
- Self-supporting media requires no separate center core. The fused core area's inherent structural strength resists high-pressure differentials.
- Continuous fiber intertwining prevents the layering often found in other cartridges.
- The thermally-bonded filter matrix prevents media migration and resulting fiber contamination of the filtrate.
Patented continuous manufacturing process means consistent performance. - Weld-free, continuous construction in lengths of up to 40 inch (102 cm).
- Continuous process manufacturing with on-line testing assures reliable filter performance lot after lot.
- Model designation is embossed on every cartridge filter for easy identification.
- Thermal and vacuum finishing procedures eliminate manufacturing debris.
Pure 100% polypropylene means broad chemical compatibility. - All materials are highest quality, lot-controlled polypropylene.
- No wetting agents, solvents, anti-static agents, binders or additives of any kind are used in the manufacturing process.
- Cartridge incinerates to trace ash with no hazardous volatiles, for environmentally safe disposal.

Performance Specifications
For General Applications | | | Removal Rating (µm) at Various Efficiencies | | Selex Grade | Micron Rating | 90% | 95% | 98% | 99% | 99.50% | | E | 1 | 0.5 | 0.7 | 0.9 | 1.0 | 1.3 | | G | 3 | 1.1 | 1.5 | 1.8 | 2.0 | 2.4 | | D | 5 | 1.5 | 1.8 | 2.9 | 4.3 | 5.0 | | A | 10 | 3.2 | 5.2 | 7.3 | 8.4 | 9.7 | | C | 20 | 15.1 | 17.5 | 18.9 | 19.3 | 20.0 | | F | 30 | 16.6 | 18.9 | 20.8 | 24.2 | 32.1 | Note: Removal efficiencies are reported for a given particle size, i.e. an efficiency of 99% at 3 microns means that the filter removes 99% of the particles that are 3 microns in size. | For Critical Applications | | Selex Grade | Removal Rating (µm) Where ß= 5000 | | E | 1.8 | | G | 3.0 | | D | 6.5 | | A | 11.0 | Note: The Beta Ratio (ß) is calculated as a measure of efficiency for all particles equal to or larger than the given micron size. A Beta Ratio (ß) of 5000 represents the removal of 99.98% of all particles equal to or larger than the given micron size. | Pressure Drop vs. Flow Rate | | Selex has less pressure drop than comparable absolute-rated depth cartridge filters. Better flow characteristics increase process throughput for more economical operation and greater value. Note: Testing done on water at 68°F (20°C). Testing under actual performance conditions or combinations of conditions relating to time, temperature, pressure and fluid being filtered is recommended. | Fast Rinse-Up to 18 Megohm-cm | | | Total Organic Carbon Rinse | | These two graphs demonstrate the superb cleanliness of the Selex filter. "Rinse-up time" is the amount of time required for the resistivity of an 18-megohm-cm water stream to return to its initial resistivity after passing through a new filter cartridge. A fast rinse-up of 18-megohm-cm is indicative of the clean construction of the Selex cartridge. "Total Organic Carbon Rinse" shows the extremely low level of organic contaminants introduced to the water as it flows through the Selex filter.

Specifications
Filter Media Polypropylene microfibers End Adapters - All end adapters are thermally-welded to the pure polypropylene Selex filter, without adhesive or additives, to prevent particle bypass and assure performance and structural integrity.
- End adapters comply with FDA requirements for food and beverage contact.
- When using filters, E, G or D with a knife-edge seal, an elastomeric gasket is recommended to retain highest efficiencies possible.
